When Red Oak gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as bur oak, silver maple, cottonwood, green ash, hackberry, eastern red cedar, and ponderosa pine, drop various materials year-round. Cottonwood fluff sails into gutters during late spring, while wind carries dirt, ash seeds, and dust in summer. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof gutters right before cold weather arrives. In Red Oak, freezing nights happen, snow is likely, and ice dams in gutters are a real winter problem when trapped water freezes. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear wet debris before winter freezes lock heavy weight into your gutter systems.
