When Oakwood gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region drop debris into drainage channels throughout every season. Loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine shed sharp pine needles all year long, while sweetgum trees drop heavy sweetgum balls. In spring, broadleaf live oak, water oak, red maple, and southern magnolia release thick yellow pollen followed by leaf drop. Sweetgum and oak trees also drop acorns that wedge inside downspouts. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October, bringing a dense mat of wet foliage before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen in Georgia, but ice dams in gutters are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect your property.
