When Morehead gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, red maple, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar, regularly fill gutters with acorns, pine needles, fallen leaves, and spring pollen. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, sending dense debris into the channels along your roof. During winter, freezing nights bring snow and severe ice dams that can pull a gutter off the roof structure. We recommend professional gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear this organic material. Timely cleaning allows melting snow and rain to drain smoothly without forming destructive ice dams during cold Kentucky winters.
