When Grimes gutters fill up
Local weather brings heavy spring storms, dry summer wind, and snow with freezing winter nights that create ice dams inside filled gutters. Common trees across the region, such as silver maple, broadleaf bur oak, cottonwood, green ash, hackberry, eastern red cedar, and ponderosa pine, release unwanted debris into roof systems. Spring drops cottonwood fluff, summer winds deposit ash seeds and grit, and leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Trapped debris holds moisture against the roof edge during cold freezes. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear pathways before winter freezes set in.
