When Glasgow gutters fill up
Local trees common in the region, including broadleaf white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, red maple, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar, drop heavy material onto every roof. Spring pollen coating and sweetgum seed pods settle into gutters early in the year, followed by pine needles and acorns. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October, filling every gutter channel with dense debris. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely in Glasgow, Kentucky, though ice dams are not an issue. Trapped wet leaves quickly freeze solid inside clogged downspouts. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels clear.
