When Flatwoods gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, red maple, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar, drop heavy debris. Spring pollen coats roof edges, while fall brings acorns, pine needles, and fallen leaves. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, packing channels tight before winter. In Flatwoods, freezing nights happen and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue. Trapped moisture inside a blocked gutter expands during freezing nights, pushing seams apart. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear out regional debris before severe local weather sets in.
