When Winsted gutters fill up
Local weather and thick tree cover create year-round gutter maintenance demands. Broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, and northern red oak are common in the region, along with eastern white pine and eastern hemlock. Maple seed wings fall each spring, pine needles drop throughout the summer, and acorns with a heavy carpet of leaves drop in fall, usually peaking in early October. In winter, freezing nights and snow create severe ice dams in clogged troughs. Trapped water freezes, expands, and pulls metal away from fascia boards. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect your Winsted roof through changing weather.
