Conditions That Cause Blocked Gutters
Obstructions usually develop when organic material and outdoor silt settle inside the channels or downspouts. Common factors that contribute to slow drainage include:
- Fallen leaves, small twigs, and pine litter accumulating along low-pitch roof valleys.
- Moss, roof grit, or seed pods drifting down into channel corners and outlets.
- Standing water that causes wet debris to compact at downspout openings.
- Windblown dust and decaying vegetation settling along the length of the system.
