When White Oak gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, drop a lot of heavy debris. Spring brings oak catkins that cling to metal channels, while sweetgum balls, acorns, and broad leaves fill gutters through late summer. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across White Oak. Winter brings freezing nights, snow, and the risk of ice dams when trapped water freezes along the roof edge. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, to prepare your residential property for every seasonal shift in Pennsylvania.
