When Westwood gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, send significant matter onto residential roofs. Spring releases oak catkins, while fall brings heavy foliage that usually peaks in mid October. Spiky sweetgum balls and heavy acorns also drop into channels. Winter brings freezing nights and likely snow to New Jersey, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Still, frozen slush over trapped debris creates extra weight that pulls metal away from fascia boards. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep rainwater flowing freely through every season.
