Debris Buildup and Gutter Drainage Conditions
Water issues usually stem from either an outlet restriction or continuous debris accumulation along the gutter channel. Observing how water moves helps pinpoint the issue before a service visit:
- Outlet clogs occur when twigs, leaves, or roofing sediment settle directly over the downspout opening, causing water to pool and spill over nearby sections.
- Mid-run blockages happen when accumulated organic material forms small dams across the trough, causing water to cascade over the outer lip while downspouts remain empty.
- Silted channels develop when fine granular dirt lines the metal base, slowing overall water velocity and allowing standing water to linger.
