When West Long Branch gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, send heavy material onto nearby roof lines. Spring brings oak catkins that quickly clog downspouts, while mid October usually marks the peak period for fall leaf drop, spilling acorns and spiky sweetgum balls into the channels. Freezing nights happen regularly in New Jersey winters, and snow is likely. Trapped water in clogged gutters freezes solid, creating heavy weight along roof edges even when ice dams are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear seasonal material before cold winter months arrive.
