When West Freehold gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop a variety of heavy debris throughout the year. Spring brings oak catkins that easily block downspout openings, while broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed fallen leaves, heavy acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls later in the year. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Eastern white pine needles also settle in channels, forming dense mats before winter snow and freezing nights arrive. Though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here, snow accumulation puts added strain on clogged systems. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels flowing freely in New Jersey.
