When West Concord gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, dump heavy debris into area gutters. In spring, maple seed wings fill open channels. By fall, a heavy carpet of fallen leaves and acorns drops into channels, with leaf drop usually peaking in early October. Pine needles slide down roof surfaces year-round. Freezing nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters create serious winter hazards when trapped water freezes solid. We recommend professional gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep systems clear before winter freezes set in.
