When Weehawken gutters fill up
Seasonal changes in New Jersey present distinct challenges for home maintenance. Trees common in the region, such as red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, drop heavy loads of debris. Oak catkins fall in spring, while broad leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls land in gutters as leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Freezing nights happen here, and winter snow is likely. Water trapped by debris can freeze inside downspouts, creating heavy ice that pulls away fascia. We recommend cleaning gutters at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep your roof line completely clear before freezing winter weather arrives.
