When Washington gutters fill up
Tree debris creates ongoing challenges for residential gutter systems in Washington. Leaves, needles, and seeds from nearby trees collect inside gutters, eventually obstructing downspouts and trapping standing water. Freezing nights happen during winter months, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue and snow is rare in Utah. However, trapped water that freezes can still stress loose gutter fasteners and damage vulnerable fascia boards. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October, making fall gutter clearing essential before winter chills set in. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to manage seasonal material, keep downspouts clear, and protect your roof from overflow damage throughout the year.
