When Vicksburg gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, red maple, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar, drop heavy debris into gutters. In spring, tree pollen and sticky seed tassels coat the gutter troughs. By fall, broad leaves and sharp pine needles create dense mats, with leaf drop usually peaking in early November. Freezing nights happen in Mississippi, but snow is rare and ice dams in gutters are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to prevent deep blockages that hold trapped moisture against the roof edge.
