When Upper Montclair gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, constantly deposit organic material into gutters. Oak catkins fall during spring, while spiky sweetgum balls, heavy acorns, and broadleaf foliage accumulate during the year, with leaf drop usually peaking in mid October. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely in winter, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Still, frozen debris trapped before a freeze can weigh down the entire assembly. We recommend scheduling gutter cleaning at least twice a year, during spring and fall, to protect the fascia and keep water moving properly through every season.
