Distinguishing Outlet Clogs from Trough Overflow
Water issues along a roofline often stem from two distinct situations. An outlet blockage occurs when leaves and grit pack tightly over the opening where the gutter connects to the vertical downspout, causing water to pool and spill over near that single point. In contrast, overflow along an entire gutter run typically happens when organic matter settles along the length of the channel, trapping standing water that spills over the front edge before ever reaching the drainage outlet.
