When Sturgeon Bay gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop heavy broadleaf foliage and evergreen debris into home gutters throughout the year. Broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm drop leaves and maple seed wings, while conifers like white pine and spruce shed pine needles and small cones. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October across Wisconsin, packing channels tight just before winter. Freezing nights happen regularly, and trapped water leads directly to severe ice dams in gutters during winter freezes. To prevent blocked downspouts and ice problems, we recommend cleaning residential systems at least twice a year, during spring and fall.
