When Streator gutters fill up
Seasonal change in Illinois brings steady challenges to local rooflines. Trees common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce. In spring and early summer, maple seed wings fill open gutter channels. Fall brings heavy foliage, with leaf drop usually peaking in mid October. Pine needles drop year-round, forming dense mats inside downspouts. Winter brings freezing nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters, which can crush clogged systems. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep water channels clear before seasonal freezes lock heavy, soggy debris against the home.
