When St. Andrews gutters fill up
Trees common in this region drop leaves and debris continuously into local gutters. Loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine shed pine needles into every gutter channel all year long. Yellow pollen coat roofs during spring, while sweetgum balls and acorns drop during late summer. Broadleaf live oak, water oak, sweetgum, and red maple shed heavy leaves, with broadleaf drop usually peaking in late October. Freezing nights happen here, but ice dams are not an issue and snow is rare. To clear out pine needles and heavy fall leaves, we recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, keeping downspouts flowing cleanly across South Carolina.
