When Springfield gutters fill up
Springfield experiences cold Michigan winters with freezing nights, frequent snow, and severe ice dams inside filled channels. Trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop heavy debris. Maple seed wings fall during spring, while leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels with thick fall foliage. Conifers continuously shed pine needles that bind together to choke downspout openings. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to manage seed drop and fall leaves before winter weather arrives. Clearing debris preserves continuous water flow through cold snaps and prevents heavy snow load damage.
