When Southborough gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop debris onto Southborough roofs. Maple seed wings fall during spring, followed by acorns, heavy leaves, and pine needles later in the year. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights cause snow and trapped water to form solid ice dams in gutters, threatening fascia and rooflines. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water moving freely before winter freezes occur.
