When South Kensington gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sweetgum, red maple, live oak, and loblolly pine, release debris throughout the year across South Kensington. Yellow pollen and live oak leaf drop collect in spring, while sweetgum balls, acorns, and pine needles build up continuously. Mid October usually brings peak fall leaf drop, completely filling gutter channels just before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen regularly in Maryland, and although ice dams in gutters are not an issue, snow is likely to push heavy debris deep into downspout bends. We recommend a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, during spring and fall, to maintain continuous drainage flow through cold snaps.
