When Solvay gutters fill up
Solvay sees freezing winter nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters, making seasonal maintenance vital for every home. Broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum trees are common in the region, along with conifers like eastern white pine. In spring, oak catkins drop onto roof surfaces, while fall brings fallen leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls. Peak leaf drop usually occurs in early October. Trapped moisture inside a clogged channel freezes during winter, forming heavy ice that bends metal fixtures and drives water under shingles. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear channels before winter freezes begin.
