When Solon gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris across Solon roofs throughout the year. Broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm shed heavy broad leaves, while conifers like white pine and spruce drop acidic needles that clog any downspout opening. Maple seed wings fall fast in spring, and leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Freezing nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters create real problems during Ohio winters when trapped water freezes solid inside clogged channels. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep channels clear before freezing cold sets in across Solon.
