When Smyrna gutters fill up
Trees common in the region include broadleaf white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, red maple, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar. In spring, oak and pine pollen coats open roof channels, forming dense sludge when mixed with spring rain. By early fall, fallen leaves, heavy acorns, and sharp pine needles pile deep inside the channel. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October, quickly filling every downspout before winter. Freezing nights and snow are likely in Tennessee, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect your home.
