When Smithfield gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region drop debris into home channels throughout the year. Broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, and northern red oak drop heavy foliage, while eastern white pine and eastern hemlock shed thin needles. In spring, maple seed wings drift into upper channels. A heavy carpet of fallen leaves and dropped acorns collects when leaf drop usually peaks in early October. Freezing nights happen regularly in winter, and ice dams in gutters become a real seasonal threat if water cannot flow freely before winter snow arrives. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect your house.
