Distinguishing Outlet Blockages from Gutter Run Overflow
Water issues along a roof edge usually stem from one of two drainage conditions:
- Outlet blockage: Debris settles directly over the downspout opening, causing water to back up and spill over the end caps even during lighter rainfall.
- Run overflow: Accumulated leaves, twigs, or roof grit along the length of the channel impede water flow, causing water to cascade over the front edge midway across the gutter run.
