When Seaside gutters fill up
Coastal California trees are largely evergreen, shedding heavy leaves, thin needles, and sticky seed pods year-round onto roof surfaces. Freezing nights are rare in Seaside, ice dams in gutters are not an issue, and snow is rare. However, steady ocean fog and persistent dampness keep organic debris moist inside the channel, forming heavy sludges that block proper drainage even during dry months. Because fallen material collects continuously rather than during one fall drop, we recommend residential gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. Regular seasonal cleanings clear stubborn gutter blockages before winter rains hit the Monterey coast.
