When Scottsburg gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop debris into gutters throughout the year. Spring drops maple seed wings, while fall brings heavy leaves, acorns, and pine needles. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October in Scottsburg. Freezing nights and snow are normal in an Indiana winter, and blocked gutters filled with wet debris quickly cause ice dams that strain roof seams. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water moving freely before winter freezes occur.
