When Savoy gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop a variety of heavy debris throughout the year. Broadleaf species like sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm drop broad leaves and seed wings. Conifers such as white pine and spruce shed pine needles that clump inside the gutter system. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, creating sudden blockages right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights happen regularly in Savoy, meaning trapped water can form ice dams in gutters during winter, leading to serious roof damage. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect the whole gutter network from freezing temperature hazards.
