When Rusk gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including broadleaf live oak, pecan, cedar elm, crape myrtle, post oak, loblolly pine, and ashe juniper, create a continuous drop cycle around Rusk homes. Broadleaf live oak trees drop leaves in spring rather than fall, while oak catkins and winter juniper pollen create thick slurry in rainwater channels. Fall leaf drop usually peaks in early November, filling downspouts before winter cold sets in. Freezing nights happen, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue and snow is rare in Texas. We recommend clearing your gutter system at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect against constant organic buildup.
