When Royalton gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop debris into gutters throughout the year. Spring bringing maple seed wings is followed by fall bringing broadleaf leaves and heavy acorns. Pine needles also collect easily in gutters. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights happen here, making ice dams in gutters a real winter problem when trapped water freezes. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear out organic debris and keep water flowing properly before freezing temperatures arrive.
