When Ramapo gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris across local roofs throughout the year. Broadleaf trees like red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed oak catkins in spring and release acorns and spiky sweetgum balls. Conifers such as eastern white pine drop pine needles during stormy weather. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling every gutter channel before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Trapped slush and frozen leaves still add immense weight to the roofline. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to maintain water flow.
