Conditions That Cause Gutter Clogs
Accumulations inside gutters generally develop over time based on the immediate surroundings of a structure. Identifying what typically lands in your gutters helps determine how frequently clearing may be required:
- Leaves, twigs, and small branches shed from nearby trees.
- Windblown grit, organic dust, and accumulated roof shingle granules.
- Nesting materials, seeds, or small plant matter deposited by wildlife.
- Trapped standing water held back by decaying debris along the bottom of the channel.
