When Potomac gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sweetgum, red maple, live oak, water oak, southern magnolia, loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine, create constant debris challenges. Yellow pollen drops in spring, while pine needles fall all year, and sweetgum balls with acorns land in gutters before leaf drop peaks in mid October. Freezing nights and snow are likely in Potomac, Maryland winters, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue. Trapped water and wet debris still freeze and add severe weight to the roof edge. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear clogged gutters and maintain uninterrupted flow through every downspout.
