When Portsmouth gutters fill up
Coastal weather patterns and regional foliage dictate when to plan roofline cleaning. Species common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock. Maple seed wings fall during spring, followed by acorns and needle drops. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, dropping heavy organic matter across roof slopes. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely, turning wet sludge into frozen weight along the eaves, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep Portsmouth drainage lines open.
