When Porters Neck gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf live oak, water oak, sweetgum, red maple, southern magnolia, loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine, constantly drop materials onto Porters Neck homes. Pines drop needles all year, spring brings heavy yellow pollen, and sweetgum balls and acorns collect in summer. Live oaks drop leaves, and broadleaf leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen here, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue and snow is rare. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to prevent heavy wet foliage from clogging channels and causing overflow along the roofline during heavy rainfall events.
