Debris and Drainage Conditions Along the Roofline
Roof runoff can fail to drain for several distinct reasons depending on what lands on the roof. An outlet blockage happens when leaves, twigs, or accumulated grit lodge directly over the downspout opening, causing water to back up quickly even if the main channel is relatively clear. In contrast, overflow along a gutter run often occurs when a long span fills evenly with heavy muck, slowing water flow until it spills over the front edge. Identifying which condition is occurring helps define the necessary cleaning approach.
