When Peru gutters fill up
Trees common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce. In spring, maples shed seed wings into every gutter along the roof. Fallen leaves peak in mid October, filling water channels right before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen regularly in Peru, making ice dams in gutters a real winter problem when snow melts and refreezes over trapped debris. Needles from conifers also drift into channels late in the year. We recommend residential gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep downspouts clear and protect every home before severe seasonal weather strikes.
