When Pearsall gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region drop heavy foliage and organic matter that quickly fills rainwater channels. Broadleaf live oak trees, pecan, cedar elm, crape myrtle, post oak, loblolly pine, and ashe juniper all impact rooflines. Unlike typical deciduous trees, local live oaks shed heavy green leaves in spring rather than fall. Spring oak catkins, winter juniper pollen, and falling pecan shells combine with pine needles to fill channels. Because freezing nights are rare here, ice dams do not form in winter, but organic debris packs tightly into channels year-round. We recommend home gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep systems clear for heavy downpours.
