When Oxford gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop heavy waste into Oxford gutters each season. Broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum produce spring oak catkins, fall leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls, while conifers like eastern white pine shed needles year-round. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling every gutter channel right before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely in Pennsylvania, turning wet gutter debris into heavy frozen clumps that weigh down fascia boards. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear local organic matter and keep roof water moving freely through every downspout.
