When Oxford gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop heavy materials onto local roofs. Oxford properties see maple seed wings in spring, acorns in summer, and a thick carpet of leaves when leaf drop usually peaks in early October. Pine needles from conifers drift into channels year-round. Freezing nights happen regularly during winter, creating ice dams in gutters filled with trapped water and debris. We recommend scheduled gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep drainage clear before winter ice arrives.
