When Olean gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, drop a steady stream of debris. Spring brings oak catkins that clump together, while summer brings pine needles. In fall, broadleaf foliage, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls land on the roof. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October in Olean. Freezing nights follow quickly, and ice dams in gutters become a real winter problem when trapped water freezes solid under snow. We recommend a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, once during spring and once in fall, to protect the building.
