When North Wantagh gutters fill up
Local broadleaf trees, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum, along with eastern white pine conifers, are common in the region. In spring, oak catkins drop directly into gutter systems, while fall brings heavy foliage, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof troughs right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely across New York, so clogged lines easily trap heavy ice and snowmelt. Although ice dams in gutters are not an issue, trapped moisture still stresses gutter hangers. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water flowing freely.
