When Newbury gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop heavy material into roof troughs. Spring brings maple seed wings, followed by acorns and pine needles later in the year. The heavy leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights create ice dams in gutters when trapped water freezes solid, pulling metal channels away from the home. We recommend residential gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to prevent winter ice problems and spring overflow.
