When New River gutters fill up
Desert winds carry dry materials into roof channels throughout the year. Tree leaves, needles, and floating seeds collect in low channels, blocking downspout openings. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October, creating full blockages right before seasonal rains arrive across the desert landscape. Freezing nights are rare in this region, so ice dams in gutters are not an issue for local property owners, and snow is rare. However, sudden desert rainfall requires completely open channels to manage rapid roof runoff. We recommend routine gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear collected debris and prepare residential rooflines for sudden desert downpours.
