When Moyock gutters fill up
Pine needles drop throughout the year from loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine trees common in the region. Spring brings yellow pollen along with leaf shedding from broadleaf live oak trees. Sweetgum balls, acorns, and broadleaf foliage from sweetgum, water oak, and red maple fall into roof systems during fall. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen here, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue and snow is rare. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. Scheduled gutter cleaning removes packed pine needles and seasonal drops so winter rains drain freely without overflowing roof edges into home foundations or exterior fascia.
